Legislative Tracker to December 6, 2018: In the Midst of Michigan’s #LameDuck

With perhaps two more weeks to go, we’re closely watching several bills pending in the Michigan Legislature. The following have had some movement since the #LameDuck session began, although there are many others–both positive and negative that are listed in the Tracker below:

  • HB 5916 and 5917 (“Puppy Mill Bills”): passed the House and are assigned to the Senate Agriculture Committee
  • SB 416 (allows individual assessment of dogs seized from fighting operations): passed Senate and referred from House committee, awaiting action in full House
  • SB 660 (extends date for regulation of egg laying hen compliance but extends reach to eggs produced outside MI): passed Senate and House
  • SB 741 (local governments cannot enact BSL): passed Senate and referred from House committee, awaiting action in full House

Please review our updated Legislative Tracker. Those bills that have seen movement in the past month have a gray background. There are many important bills. Michiganders, please get in touch with your state representative (contact information here) and your state senator (contact information here) without delay, to voice your opinion on the issues that are important to you. #LameDuck is fast moving, so information posted today could change. Be sure to check for the most up-to-date information on a particular bill, by visiting the Michigan Legislature homepage, and typing in the bill number.
